Symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa:

  • Refusal to maintain body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for height, body type, age and activity level
  • Intense fear of weight gain or being "fat"
  • Feeling "fat" or overweight despite dramatic weight loss
  • Loss of menstrual periods in girls and women post-puberty
  • Extreme concern with body weight and shape

Symptoms of Bulimia:

  • Consumes large amounts of food in a short time
  • Purges through vomiting, laxatives, diuretics or exercising
  • Fasting or strict dieting
  • Withdrawal after meals or planning meals to allow for purging
  • Severe mood swings

Symptoms of Binge Eating Disorder:

  • Recurrent episodes of binge eating
  • Lacks control over eating
  • Eats when not hungry
  • Isolates to eat
  • Frequent attempts and failure at weight loss
